Company: Roost About: Roost is a wholesale line of modern home furnishings and accessories that emphasizes accessible and livable design. We utilize authentic materials and finishes that are contemporary without being hard-edged. The majority of roost products are designed by our small group of design associates and the... finished pieces are truly handmade, small craft production. Our products are manufactured for us in workshops and factories where we have longstanding relationships. In this way, we can ensure the quality and integrity of each piece. Our line includes some furniture, as well as lighting, unique mouth-blown glass vessels, metal vases and candleholders, home textiles, baskets, stone, wood, wax and botanicals. We will be adding collections periodically with the goal of being a complete design and product resource for the home and gift specialty retailer. These are so great. Taking a non-sustainable item, a plastic bottle and using that design and making it out of glass! So cool! Very light weight and fun, great for the home or office.

About: First introduced in 1997, the Ray Tray is back! The design, which features a metal frame covered with stretch netting typically used in lingerie, incorporates a simple, inventive mechanism to hold the fabric in a concave plane. The RayTray is the first of the RayBowl collection to be reintroduce...d. The open, breathable mesh makes the RayTray ideal for storing fruit and vegetables. The covers come of easily and are machine washable. In addition to functioning as storage in the kitchen or on a bugget, the RayTray makes a dramatic modern statement in any area of your home. These are amazing! We don't quite have them in the store yet, but they are available for shipping in September! They come in green, white and black. This is yet again another design I have never seen before, so innovative and fun! If only I could think of something this cool...

From: Design House Stockholm Designer: Harri Koskinen Block Lamp: Harry was educated in Helsinki at the Institute of art and design. He has received acclaim from the Finnish industry sector, which recognized him as a talented designer with brave new ideas. ...Today, the block lamp is a design classic, renowned all over the world and recognized with several design awards. The Block Lamp was introduced in 1996 and has been part of the Museum of Modern Art in New York's collection since 2000. I am pretty sure I am way behind the times on this one, but this lamp is so cool! It was in the store when I showed up today and was informed that it's been around for a while. I have never seen a lamp so simple and innovative. It completely challenges what we know as a lamp while still having the basic function of a lamp, to light. Beautiful and a great floor highlight piece.

Company: Blomus
Location: Germany
Materials: Stainless Steel
Description: Blomus aims to harmonise form and function to create special products for everyday life. For Blomus design is not an end in itself but an important part of everyday life.
One of our favorite wine tools with long wine pull, foil knife and bottle opener - all in one. And, the weight of the stainless steel makes it seem like you spent a whole lot more!
This is the most heavy duty bottle opener I have ever held. I just know that it would work amazingly. It has a cap opener, cork opener and a small knife to peel off the seal.

One of our favorite party gifts! Stainless steel cheese slicer with an extra slicing cord.
This product is the one I have seen the most people buy. I don't really understand it. Wait, yes I do! Cutting cheese with a knife can be frustrating!

White Lunette is a sewn fiberglass paper lampshade that clips onto a bare light bulb. Lunette can be used as a ceiling, wall or table fixture. I love simple solutions to big problems. Granted, a bare light bulb is not the end of the world, but it is always amazing to be able to cover up something ugly and make it pretty!... We have lots of these in the store so come on in or if you can't make it, check them out online as well.

This jewelry is made from a Portland designer, Melissa Stiles.
Her work is made from brushed aluminum, stainless steel,
and silver. Filled with vibrant resins in modern designs and patterns.
Her work is seriously beautiful. Clean lines, simple designs with a huge
impact. When I first saw these earrings I thought they would be heavy,
but I was oh so wrong. So light! They are a very unique design. Come
in and get them before I do!

Vitreluxe Blown Glass Portland, Oregon
...we are helping accessorize a beautiful, modern house in Seattle. I have come across this beautiful glassware studio called Vitreluxe. I love finding local studios that are people doing what they love and helping us create unique environments that are not just out of a corporate store. It's really interesting taking the time to be thoughtful about each area of the house, taking measurements and having something meaningful made by someone, rather than being mass-produced. Here are a few photos of the pieces we are having made (...by a real person). enjoy!

Modern Wallpaper...not the same old designs
dear friends,
I have to share something embarrassing --- Carey just helped me have my place painted after having a swatch on my wall for about 4 months (well, maybe 5 months even). This is a classic case of the 'cobblers kids have no shoes' and, as a design store owner for 7 years now and an interior design 'adult' student on the side, this is a shame. I see more products and materials and vendors in a year than most people see in a decade. I am also a voracious reader of international design magazines (yes, the kind you hold in your hand and save for inspiration for just that one dog-eared page!). Well, I chose this paint company for its NO VOC paint-palette and also the fact that they were 'born' locally called Yolo. Also, I've decided what to do with my little bathroom and hallway --- Ferm Living Wallpaper. I really wanted some texture and variation, but not too much and not really into trendy things. So, here's to adding color and texture to our lives. We have all the samples here at relish, so feel free to come by, have a seat and play with us...
